Summary

A grave with a male skeleton, orientated south west-north east, was found in 1939 at a depth of 5ft. during the excavtion of an air-raid shelter in the garden of 7 Redsull Avenue, Mill Hill, Deal. The burial presupposes that of a Jute, but as no associated objects were found. This isolated grave is probably associated with an Anglo-Saxon cemetery. The site lies on the upper slope of Mill Hill ridge, facing north-east. OD 20-25m.

[TR 3630 5114] A grave with a male skeleton, orientated south west-north east, was found in 1939 at a depth of 5ft. during the excavtion of an air-raid shelter in the garden of 7 Redsull Avenue, Mill Hill, Deal. " ... the burial presupposes that of a Jute, but as no associated objects were found nothing more definite can be said." (1) The air raid shelter is centred at TR 3629 5114. (2) This isolated grave is probably associated with an Anglo-Saxon cemetery. Cross refer to TR 35 SE 67, TR 35 SE 19 and TR 35 SE 51. (3)
