TR 3376 5504. Iron Age site. Two pits located in the face of an old chalk quarry at Hacklinge Holes, Worth, by Mr R Tyman of Ramsgate, were excavated by Dover Archaeological Group in June 1983. One pit produced a large amount of Early Iron Age pottery 'tentatively dated to 850-650 BC' a loom-weight, an amber bead and several large briquetage fragments. The other pit produced only a few sherds of Iron Age pottery. (1)

The pits were subsequently described as being of Bronze age date, dating to about 1000 BC. (2)
