A single late 7th c Anglo Saxon grave was found in 1956 during the building of a small garage at High Meadows, Dover, on waste land on the right bank of the Dour, immediately SW of London Road and the adjacent railway tunnel between Edred Road and Union Road. It was suggested that the grave might be an outlier of the Priory Hill cemetery). (1) There are only three garages which could apply here, all grouped together at TR 31014197, on the N side of Edred Road where they cut into the steep hillside. The particular garage, however, was not identified. (2) Anglo-Saxon grave at Dover. In 1956 when foundations were being dug for a garage on the west of the High Street, a grave was found containing a gold bracteate, bronze ring and pottery bead. This probably belongs to the same cemetery as the 1883/1889 site, which is less than 200 yds away. (3) additional references (4-5)
