Summary

The remains of a medieval building were found during ploughing operations on two mounds on Wade Marsh to the north of St. Nicholas at Court. The foundations of a building were revealed including a number of large flints, ragstone and local sandstone slabs. An assemblage of 14th century pottery sherds was also recovered.

TR 257685. Medieval building foundations and pottery. Two mounds spaced c.100m apart were visible at this spot. Ploughing over the northernmost mound revealed foundations of clunch, large flints, ragstone and local sandstone slabs with many glazed potsherds of the 14th centry type. (1) (TR257685 sited from Isle of Thanet Arch. Unit S.M.A. Record Map). Two mounds. Ploughing over the northern most mound has revealed foundations of clunch, large flints, ragstone and local sandstone slabs. Pot sherds found were of forms and glazes commensurate with a 14th century date (2) and site photographs (3).
