Type of record:Monument
Name:Possible prehistoric trackway, near Monkton

Summary

A curvilinear feature appearing as cropmarks has been identified in fields to the north of Monkton. It is thought that this feature is either a trackway of prehistoric date or possibly a surviving fragment of Roman Dunstrete. The feature is visible running for c.1350m and appears to cut through a probable barrow cemetery in the area (see TR 26 NE 82 and 17).
