Monument details

HER Number:TR 26 NE 60
Type of record:Monument
Name:Ring ditch cropmark, Monkton

Summary

A single ring ditch cropmark is located in fields to the north of Monkton. There are a number of Similar ring ditches to the immediate west. These have been tentatively identified as the remains of a Bronze Age barrow cemetery. This particular feature is smaller: it is uncertain whether this would seem to indicate that it belongs to the group of Bronze Age barrows or is in fact a later Anglo-Saxon example.
