Saxon (?5th century) Cemetery. During the draining of Goss Field, at Cup or Cop Street near Goldston-under-Ash, before 1849, nearly 20 early Saxon graves with flagstone covers were opened. There were several finds, now in museums.

During the draining of Goss Field, at Cup or Cop Street near Goldston-under-Ash, before 1849, nearly 20 early Saxon graves with flagstone covers were opened. Weapons, coins, glass vessels, beads and a silverbrooch of the 5th century were found. These are now in Liverpool Museum. (1-4) Goss Field could not be located either on the Tithe Map or during fieldwork. (5) Inhumation cemetery sited to TR 290 597, Cop Street, Ash (Goldstone, Richborough). (6) More likely to be located in a field around Cop Street with a nearby water source - i.e. TR 288 598 or TR 292 599.
