On the hill to the south of, and close behind Little Watersend Farm, to the west of Temple Ewell, "there seems to be a line of breast-works thrown up". (1) Hasted would appear to be referring to two lynchets running along the hill slope at the back of Little Watersend. The lower, from TR 27464489 to TR 27684471 reaches a height of 2.5m and merges into the natural slopes at the ends. The higher one, from TR 27414483 to TR 27534478, is tree covered and has a maximum height of 8.0m. (2)
