A group of features were found during the widening of the A2 in 1971. These features belong to the medieval period, and consist of two post hole structures, which are identified as huts, and a possible ancillary structure on the second hut, there is also evidence of a cross ditch of a sunk post mill. The huts and the cross ditch are probably related to the use of the site when there was a windmill here.
Pottery from the site dates this phase of occupation to the mid to late thirteenth century, although the dating of a shell tempered shred can take this back to the late twelfth.
