(TR 1485857469 sited from CAT plan). Roman, Saxon and medieval pits. An excavation took place in 1952 in the south-east corner of Marlowe Avenue Car Park (Coded CXXIIF). Trench 1 rivealed a 12th-13th century pit; In trench 2 a Roman pit and a 16th or 17th century pit were found; In trench 3, three pits, probably medieval. In trench 4 a medieval pit; In trench 5 a Roman pit and 6th and 9th century pits. (1-2)

From the Register of Scheduled Monuments:

The Marlowe car park site with a wealth of Roman remains found and slightly examined by Frere.

An extension to the existing area discussed with the DC at the meeting held over the development to include ? Of the area held by a private company. Also as discussed at the meeting another car park with known archaeological sites and the next area of Canterbury to be developed after Marlowe. Thus there are a total of 3 new area. Car park area within Roman town. Some areas excavated (see sketch plan).
