[TR 14985747] Bastion [NR] (Site of) [NAT]. (1) Site of semi-circular bastion standing in 1799. (2) Excavated 1953. (3) Marked in turf by concrete walling. (4) Tower 5. One of three medieval semicircular towers between the Riding Gate [TR 15 NW 141] and Newingate [TR 15 NE 76]. The plinth constructed of large ashlar blocks was found by SS Frere in 1954. (5)
