Summary

A Romano-British barrow, Little Dungeon, was first mentioned in 1640. It was located on the site of 20 and 21 St George's Terrace, which were destroyed during World War II. A considerable part of the mound still appears to exist.

(TR 15045754) Ro barrow (site of). (1) Little Dungeon (Dungill), a tumulus, mentioned by W Somner in 1640 (2) stood on the site of 20 and 21 St George's Terrace (3). A considerable part of the mound still appears to exist. The destruction of the houses on the Terrace by enemy action has disclosed a mass of earth projecting here, and only here from the inner side of the rampart. (2-3)
