A desk-based assessment done by Cambridgeshire County Council's Archaeology Field Unit found records of Hogg's survey in which he records a 'round pit'. The survey was completed in 1935 which pre dates WW II bombing which has been the main scepticism over the legitimacy of this sunken feature being a pond. No real evidence to connect the pond to the Hut sites while it may be equally probable to suppose the pond is 'natural' in an area of springs and old water courses. (1)
