Summary

Evaluation trenching on the Rochester Riverside development site encountered numerous dumps of material dating from the 18th to the 20th century, consisting of industrial and domestic waste, hardcore and chalk, used to raise the ground level. Traces of industrial structures were also found, mostly 19th and 20th century warehouses and revetments relating to the industrial riverside activity.

Evaluation trenching on the Rochester Riverside development site encountered numerous dumps of material dating from the 18th to the 20th century, consisting of industrial and domestic waste, hardcore and chalk, used to raise the ground level.
