(3) Saxon fibulae and a distaff, found at Hythe, were exhibited at a society meeting in 1863 by Mr. Mackeson. [It would appear that there is no authority for the O.S. dating for the discovery of these objects, assuming that the above authorities are referring to the same finds]. (4) Exhibited in Folkestone Museum is a portion of a square-headed brooch, c. 600 A.D., with niello decoration and inlaid with garnets, from quarries above Hythe. (No acc. number) (From this site?). The findspot lies in a disused quarry. (5) TR 158350. Inhumation burials. Old quarries north west of Hythe are marked as the site of Anglo-Saxon finds in 1870 on OS maps. Fibulae beads etc were said to have been found. (6,7)
