One of a group of three salt-working mounds on the marshes near Capel Gate. Surveyed at 1:2500. [For salt-working on Sheppey see TQ 97 SW 6] (1) (TR 00876910) Medieval Saltworks [NR] (2) Two mounds plotted at TR 00656883, 01006874. (3) Isles of Sheppey and Harty: The salt water creeks of these isles contain a large number of mounds similar to those excavated at Seasalter (TR 06 SE 6). They represent the remains of medieval salt working (4). Additional reference (5,6) and site photographs (7,8).
