In 2001 a small collapse crater appeared behind the garage in Albion Road, St Peters. The crater was c. 5 m across. Members of the Kent Underground Research Group were invited to survey the site on 25th February 2001.

In the base of the crater, about 4 m below ground level, a tunnel led to the main mine workings. C. 250 m of tunnels were found, on average 2 m wide and up to 7 m high. The workings were in very poor condition and the floors were covered in up to 3 m of debris. All the tunnels that headed towards the chalk quarry to the south were blocked, probably by infill. A few modern finds were recovered, mostly of modern-style pickaxes and old boots.

The mine was surveyed by KURG but is now believed to have been destroyed.(1)
