A denehole was found at 179 Coombefield Drive, Darenth in 2001. Originally 1 m in diameter it subsequently opened up into a larger crater and was filled in.

The shaft was 6.15 m deep and was cut into Thanet Sand. At its base was a cone of debris. The chamber was in three sides of the entrance shaft and alcoves had been cut into the chalk at the lowest levels. There were pick marks clearly visible in the chalk. (1)
