SE of Kingsgate.Pillbox [Sector 7]. Cassini ref 840880

The pillbox recorded in this monument was not visible on military aerial photographs in the location given. However, a rectangular structure was mapped in the SE Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment approximately 42m to the SE, and this is thought to be the correct location for the pillbox described in this monument record. The structure measures approximately 6.2m long and 4.4m wide.

The structure was first visible on aerial photographs from January 1941 [3] and was mapped from a photograph taken in May 1942 [1]. It is still visible in 1946 [2] but is gone on photographs from 1950 [4].
