Sherds and an almost complete flagon of early C2nd RB ware was found TR 04754998 in Kings's Wood as a result of deer scrambling up and down the banks of a deep sunken road. As the findspot was on a steep bank overlooking the Wye and surrounded by a complex of banks, pits, old quarries, and sunken roads, situated only ten yards from the termination of two parallel banks of earth and flints, a survey was made by Mr G English of the South Kent College of Technology. In the course of this patera was found, comtemporary with the first vessel, and suggesting they were from a cremation burial deposit. (1) The findsite was located at TR 04864995 from the above siting evidence, and surveyed at 1:2500. There are a number of hollow ways leading over the shoulder of the hill around the findsite, also there is a complex of old field boundary banks, all of Medieval or later date. (2)
