Summary

Grade II listed building. Main construction periods 1800 to 1866. Watermill, the original part of the building is dated 1821, it was extended in the early-mid 19th century. Built of Flemish bond diaper brickwork with a timber framed structure clad with weatherboarding above. The slate roof is half hipped to the north. The north part of the building is of three-storeys with attics and the 1-bay extension to the south is of three-storeys and has a lower elevation. There is a cast undershot mill wheel to the rear.

Description from record TQ 73 SE 9 :
(TQ 79773053) Wandle Mill (NAT) (1) TQ 798306. A derelict 4-storey brick and timber building dating from the early 19th century. The remains of an iron overshot wheel exist and most of the mill machinery including a very large pit wheel. Originally 4 pairs of stones. In the mid-19th century a beam engine was installed as a stand by drive to cope with water shortages. (2) Wandle (or Water) Mill. Grade III. Ninetenth century water mill. (3)

BENENDEN TQ73SE MILL STREET 1350-0/2/66 Wandle Mill 15/06/89 II Water mill. Original part dated 1821, extended early to mid C19. Flemish bond diaper brickwork with timber framed structure clad in weatherboarding above. Slate roof, half-hipped to north. North part is of 3 storeys and attics with 2 window openings with remains of sash windows to side elevation. Front has 1 window opening, hoist opening to 1st floor and double door to ground floor. Early to mid C19 extension to south in matching materials of 1 bay but of 3 storeys only and lower elevation. Cast iron undershot mill wheel to rear. Listing NGR: TQ7976630535 (4)
