[TR 03952950] Site of Goobye Hall. Part of the moat only exists. (1) The manor of Googie-hall in Newchurch parish contains fresh marsh called Cobbs or the Lodge-land. [The house "Lodgeland" is situated nearby at TR 03492956. No map of 1589 was found during recording. Phillipson's map of 1596 does not shew a Goobye or Googie Hall]. (2) The site of this house is marked by a raised platform and a concentration of building debris, potsherds and oyster shells at TR 03922949. A series of depressions about and near the site are too reduced and mutilated to determine whether they represent a moat or old drainage ditches. (3)
