Roman cremation cemetery found in 1924 a few hundred yards north of Mere Court, Muston, on brickearth excavations. Amongst the finds were large quantities of broken pottery, coins of Constantine and Allectus, iron implements and glass fragments.

About 1924, a Roman cemetery was found "a few hundred yards north of" Mere Court, Muston, on land being excavated for brickearth. [TQ 924 646] A circle of urns containing oyster shells and small human bones surrounded a pile of burnt human bones. Large quantities of broken pottery (mostly Upchurch ware), nine coins (including 4 Constantine, 1Allectus), iron implements, glass fragments, etc., were also found. (1)

Exhaustive enquiries locally, further enquiries of Mr John Evans(b), the Lower Medway Archaeological Research Group and Maidstone Museum revealed no knowledge of this site and no further information was obtained (2).
