[TQ 90966275] Roman burial ground [R] (1) [Sited on Map A, No 6.] Two Roman inurned cremations with other pottery vessels, were found in 1865 during brickearth operations on Fulston Farm, Sittingbourne. As the operations approached the roadside leading to Winding Hill, many other vessels were found but these were destroyed deliberately by workmen. (2) The area is under long-established orchards. No closer siting evidence than George Payne's small scale map (1 1/8 miles: 1 inch) could be found. (3)
