The following text is from the original listed building designation:
RAMSGATE EFFINGHAM STREET TR 3864 NW (east side) 13/101 Nos. 1 and 5 (Chancery House) GV II House (now offices). Late C18, altered mid C19. Rendered with slate roof. Three storeys with moulded cill bands and cornice parapet to roof with stacks to centre right. Regular fenestration of 5 sashes to 2nd and 1st floors in raised surrounds, and 2 large bows on ground floor. Central door of 6 raised and fielded panels (the central 2 now glazed) with rectangular fanlight and heavy cornice on console brackets. Three storey extension projecting to left, and 2 storey extension to right. Marked on Collard and Hursts 1822 map.
