Description from record TR 36 NE 7:
[TR 38086845] St. Peter's Ch. (NAT) (1) The Church of St Peter, the Apostle, Braodstairs, has a Norman arcade to the nave. The remainder is 14th/15th c. (2) In normal use. (3) The Parish Church of St Peter the Apostle, Church Street. Grade B. Norman arcade to nave. The remainder is C14 to C15 but restored by Joseph Clarke between 1852 and 1859. (For full description see list). (4) St Peter. Large, basically Norman church, over-restored. Joseph Clarke provided all the tracery in 1852 and 1859, and a new chancel arch. The plan consists of a nave with wide aisles, the north aisle continued to the east end of the chancel, the south not so far. Big Early Perpenicular tower west of the north aisle, built of black knapped flint, with angle buttress up two of the three stages, and a sheer polygonal north east turret. The Transitional north doorway, ishidden by the vestries of 1903. The nave is imposing in its length, five bays a side. The south side shows the earliest work, in the two east bays, where the arches have two unmoulded orders and the bases, spurless, a steep, shallow moulding. The two west bays match their fellows on the north, and in the middle a section of blank wall was left, pierced early in the 13th century with a pointed arch. Similar arch in the chancel to the south chapel, but two continous chamfers the outer with a row of small dogtooth. Early 13th century arcade of three bays to the north chapel. The aisles widened in the 14th century, see the south doorway. (5) Full architectural description. (6) Additional bibliography - not consulted. (7) The Church was in existence by 1128. Originally like St. John's, Margate and St. Laurence, Ramsgate, a chapel of ease to the mother church at Minster. The Church was enlarged c.1150-85. (8)
