In Maidstone Museum there is a palstave from Milton near Sittingbourne presented by a Mr Smeed at an unknown date. It is thought to be one of the three bronze axes found with bones whilst digging for brick earth about 1 mile N.E. of Sittingbourne and about the same distance from Watling Street, in May 1864. The Palstave is 5" long and 2" wide at its cutting edge: it is badly corroded.(a)(b) (1) Additional bibliography. (2)
