A hoard of 34 aurei was unearthed by Mr Bryan Hollands, the landowner, on 29/7/1957, in digging the foundations for his bungalow called "Treasure Trove", in Gore Road, Bredgar. It contained:- 1 Julius Caesar (issue of 45 B.C.), 12 Augustus, 17 Tiberius, 1 Nero Drusus and 3 Claudius (A.D. 41-2).

A hoard of 34 aurei was unearthed by Mr Bryan Hollands, the landowner, on 29/7/1957, in digging the foundations for his bungalow called "Treasure Trove", in Gore Road, Bredgar. It contained:- 1 Julius Caesar (issue of 45 B.C.), 12 Augustus, 17 Tiberius, 1 Nero Drusus, 3 Claudius (A.D. 41-2) and is the earliest gold hoard yet found in Roman Britain. A set of electrotypes are in Maidstone Museum: the facsimiles are on permanent loan from the British Museum, where the originals were sent after having been declared Treasure Trove (2). (1-4)
