The following text is from the original listed building designation:
HORTON KIRBY FRANKS LANE 1. 5280 Stables to north of Franks Hall TQ 56 NE 3/179 II 2. Late C19, possibly by E L Roumieu. Quadrangular in form. One to 2 storeys red brick, tiled roof. Casement windows with stone dressings. Carriage arch. Arched doorcases.

Romelieu link discounted. Construction date of 1885-1896 given, visible on 2nd edition OS mapping. Designed as a coach house and stable facilities, with a suite of domestic accomodation. Buildings replace ancillary buildings arranged in a u-shaped plan (open to the south east), visible on the first edition OS mapping. Whole complex replaces a u-shaped complex visible on the tithe maps, to the south east see TQ 56 NE 205. Stables converted into domestic accomodation by 1963. First as three cottages and then to supplement office-change of use in main house, providing combined residential, domestic/storage and canteen facilities (2).
