A gold aureus of Claudius and Agrippina, dug up in a garden at Rainham and in the possession of the finds, was brought to Maidstone Museum in 1968 for identification. (1) The coin was found by Mr J. A. G. Shiner, 66 Herbert Road, Rainham, in 1968 whilst gardening. Mr Shiner, who later sold the coin to a London dealer, indicated the exact findspot in his back garden at TQ 8139 6542. Surveyed at 1:2500. (2)
