The following text is from the original listed building designation:
HIGH STREET 1. 1614 (East Side) No 2 TQ 5354/1/2 II 2. C18 but with C19 bay window and porch additions and modern rendering. 3-window facade of 2 storeys with C18 flat modillioned cornice and concealed leaded gutter; ridge tile roof with 3 flat-roofed leaded dormers. End brick stacks. Centre projecting stucco porch with square corner pilasters, moulded entablature and cornice. Square, projecting bays on either side of porch carried up 2 storeys with large, square-paned, modern casement windows on both floors. C18 sash window in centre over porch. Historical associations - Charles Dickens used to lodge at this house when visiting Sevenoaks.

In 1994 a survey on cellars in the Sevenoaks area was undertaken. 2 High Street was found to have the entire floor area taken by the cellar. (2)
