Harbourmaster's Office
GV II*
Offices. c1770 with some early C19 remodelling. Painted render with brick lateral stack and hipped slate roof. Late Georgian style. 2-room plan.
EXTERIOR: 2 storey; 3-window range. Ground-floor has a 3-bay arcade of timber Tuscan columns to an entablature, cornice and parapet, the left-hand one open to a recessed doorway with architrave to 6-panel door, the middle and right-hand bays filled in with cambered heads to 6/6-pane sashes. House has clasping pilaster strips to overhanging boxed eaves, with 6/6-pane sashes. 2-window returns, the rear facing the river has a similar open arcade as the front with a C20 iron balustrade, canted up through subsidence of the house.
INTERIOR: not inspected but noted as having retained original features. A significant visual element within this largely complete Georgian dockyard. Built as offices for the dockyard's two Master Attendants, who were responsible for the ships moored in the river, either in Ordinary or awaiting repair.

(TQ 7578 6911) SAM No. 217 [Assistant Queen's Harbour Master's Office: scheduled]. (1) A small two storey building erected in 1808. On its E and W sides it has wide porticoes. Stuccoed with a slate roof. (2)
