Description from record TQ 76 SW 30 :
[TQ 70516388] St John the Baptist's Church [NAT] (1) "Halling. St John Baptist - Nave and aisles, chancel, western tower; the chancel arch retained. Entrance from N; in the porch a broken Norman capital. The pillars and arches 15th c varied on S side. The chancel 13th c .... The tower arch early 13th c." (2) Still in use for public worship. (3) Parish Church of St John the Baptist, Halling. Grade I. 12th c enlarged in 13th c with 14th c aisles. Restored 1889. (4) Additional bibliography. (5,7)

HALLING CP HIGH STREET TQ 76 SW 13/56 East side 21.11.66 Church of St. John the Baptist GV I
Parish Church. C12 enlarged in C13 with C14 aisles. Restored 1889 by H. Bensted. Ragstone and flints with plain tiled roofs. West tower, nave with north and south aisles and north paorch, chancel. West tower, late C12, buttressed in C14 and dressed in brick. Large clock faces on tower parapet. Nave, C14, with separately gabled north and south aisles. Chancel enlarged in C13 with two south and three north lancets. Interior: Early C13 tower arch. 3-bay arcades, that to the north earlier than that to the south. Chancel arch of C14. C15 piscina on shaft. Fittings: glass in E. window by Kempe, 1892. Wall paintings over chancel arch, Last Supper and Passion.
