Description from record TQ 85 SE 14 :
[TQ 8988 5205 - sited from DOE (IAM) Record Form] Barn circa 40 yards north west of Court Lodge, Grade I. Barn, probably late 14th century. Timber framed, weatherboarded, on patched stone plinth with hipped plain tile roof. Scheduled Ancient Monument.(For full description see list. (1)(2) Additional bibliography. (3) The barn is well preserved and in use. Published 1:2500 survey correct. (4) Barn at Court Lodge Farm, Lenham. (5) Two late medieval aisled barns, each truss consists of an arch-braced tie-beam on upright posts with a strutted king-post and curved tension braces to the up-rights. Fragments of the outer frame with curved braces remain, but most of the now weatherboarded outer wall is later. Each barn had one pair of waggon porches. The western barn has been extended, the other truncated. The northern barn (sited from O.S. 25" XLIV 13 to TQ 8988 5210) was burnt down in 1964 (see plan). Scheduled. LENHAM HIGH STREET TQ 8952 (east side)
10/171 Barn circa 40 yards north west of Court Lodge 20.10.52. GV I Barn. Probably late C14. Timber framed, weatherboarded,on patched stone plinth with hipped plain tile roof, C19 canopy towards left end of west elevation, and plain double doors towards right end. Interior: 9 bays (7 original, 2 late C15 or early C16), with aisles to ends and both sides, Posts on wood cills, some with stone pedestal under, some with continuous stone plinths. Normal assembly to outer walls. Slightly curved passing shores from cill to top of posts. Curved braces (some replaced) from arcade posts to arcade plates and tie-beams. Single, probably later, purlin to aisle roofs, pegged intermittently to rafters, with raked Queen posts from aisle tiles. Jowled arcade posts. Plain crown posts with 2 curved downward braces and 2 upward braces. Lapped collars. Some replacement of wall studs, but usually in same mortices. Evidence for arch bracing to outer walls. On a demesne of St. Augustines, Canterbury. One of 2;'the other, at right angles to north west, burnt 1962. (S.E. Rigold, Archaeologia Cantiana Vol. LXXXI, 1966). Scheduled Ancient Monument.
