6/7 War Memorial north west of Church of The Holy Cross
II
War memorial to the fallen of the first and second world wars. Erected 1920. (M. Bourner, F. Hull, R. Tate and others, A History of Bearsted and Thurnham, no date, late C20.) Stone. Decorative cross on octagonal shaft with carved capital, and broach stops at the bottom, standing on a square block with chamfered corners and large ornamental broach stops. Dedications inscribed on the south and west faces of the block. 3 octagonal steps beneath with names inscribed on the risers. Deeply coved octagonal base.
