Summary

The Kent and East Sussex railway system was extended to run from Tenterden to Headcorn. The line was authorised in 1903 and 9.5 miles of new track opened in 1905. Unfortunately this route quickly became a liablity and was run at a loss until it was eventually closed in January 1954.

(TQ 83754399 to TQ 84874000) Dismantled Railway (NAT) (1) The extension of the Kent and East Sussex railway from Tenterden (TQ 8834) to Headcorn (TQ 8343) a distance of 9.5 miles was authorised in 1903 and opened in 1905. It proved to be a liability being run at a loss and was closed down entirely in Jan 1954. (2,3)
