An aureus of Nero (Mattingly type A4), minted between AD 54-58, was found in October 1949 by Mr. Wood, gardener to the late Brigadier Harker, whilst digging in a small orchard centred TQ 8148 4821 at the rear of Heniker House (now called `Henikers'). Wood who retained the coin has left the district and his address is not known; the general area of the find was indicated by a relative. (1) Additional bibliography. (2)(3)
