[Area centred TQ 7387 7036] A denehole has been found during digging in Mr. West's brickyard, which is to the west of the FRINDSBURY - BILL STREET road and only a few yards south of the latter place. When visited, 14/4/1887, it had been covered in and was about to be converted into a cesspool. The section of the shaft showed more than 30' of loamy beds above the chalk, the thickness of the chalk roof being less than 2'. (1) Found in February, 1887. The shaft descends c. 52': at that depth the lateral workings through the chalk commence. Quantities of small bones, skulls of goats and smaller animals were found on the bottom. (2) This area has been developed for housing and the site of the denehole is now lost. (3)
