Payne notes the former existence of a barrow on Hope Farm, from the slopes of which arrowheads and other implements were obtained, (a) and R.G. Baird, 25.11.24 records a large tumulus at TQ 5890 5542 on Hope Farm, (b). Harrison describes it as the terminal point of a supposed stone avenue, (c). Baird's site is now occupied by a private house and garden called "Little Cobtree," situated near the top of a large natural knoll. There is no trace of a barrow or stone row. (1)
