Monument details

HER Number:TQ 76 SW 59
Type of record:Findspot
Name:Neolithic or early Bronze Age flint axe, Vicarage Road, Halling

Summary

A flint axe was found in the garden of a property on vicarage Road in 1983. It measured 13.5cm in length by 5.2cm in width and was 3.1cm thick. A date from the late Neolithic to the early Bronze Age was suggested by typological analysis. Evidence of a depression in one of the side profiles of the axe, and blunting of the sides in the same suggests the axe may have been hafted onto a handle.
