2. Early C19. 2 storeys, basement and attic. Stuccoed. Old tiled roof with 2 dormers. Parapet and moulded eaves cornice. Rainwater head. 2 bows through 2 storeys, having double hung sashes. 2 other sashes. Central doorcase has a semi-circular fanlight with glazing bars and a 6 panelled door. 2 stone steps. Footscraper.
Nos 25 and 26 together with Nos 37 to 41 (consec) Castle Row form a group.

The Canterbury UAD states that 26 Castle Street had a very brief life as an inn. It was established in 1862 when the landlord on the Licensing List was named as James Robins. No. 26 Castle Street is on the other side of St. Mary de Castro churchyard and Castle Row. The Sovereign closed as an inn in 1880. The very large building on the other side of Lee Evans entrance was, however, the Kent Education office. That building is No. 27 Castle Street, and is now the Careers Advisory Office of the Kent Education Service.

In 1882 No. 26 was occupied by M T Fowler, Fruit and Potato Stores and No. 27 occupied by M J Gaskin, Builder and Contractor. They were both still there in 1889. In 1970 No. 27 Castle Street was occupied by Alfred Olby Ltd, Builders' Merchant. For a few years Kent Education Area Offices were at 78 London Road and 27 Castle Street.
