Summary

Various items have been found in the field of Kits Coty House.

In the 18th century the tenant at Tottington Farm had a large brass, warlike instrument, something like a halberd with a socket to it. It had been unearthed in the field.

A sword with the handle and a fragment of the blade and 2 spurs were found at a different time. A leaf shaped arrowhead, Neolithic or beaker pottery sherds were also unearthed.

The present location of the finds is unknown.

[Area centred TQ 74456084] The tenant at Tottington Farm had a large brass warlike instrument, something like a halberd with a socket to it, found some years ago in ploughing Kits Coty House field. In the same field has been found an ancient sword with the handle and a fragment of the blade and two spurs. (1) "I have picked up a specimen of leaf-shaped arrowhead near Kits Coty House". (2) A number of small, worn, Neo. or Beaker potsherds were found on the surface of the field surrounding Kits Coty House by Mr. & Mrs. S. Piggott and Mrs. N. Cook. (3) The present location of these finds has not been ascertained. Probably a bronze socketed celt described by Authority 1. (4) No further information. (5)
