Description from record TR 15 NW 363:
No 43 High Street [TR 14885782 - sited from OS 1/1250 1974]. Grade II. Early 19th century facade to an early 18th century building. (1-2)

The Canterbury UAD mentions that this inn was formally known as CROWN TAP and OLD CROWN. For many years after the Second World War this building was the Kent Messenger Newspaper office in Canterbury. The Building closed as an inn in 1910.

It is now a shop(1992). (3)

No 43 TR 1457 NE 4/66B GV II
2. Early C19 facade to an early C18 building. 3 storeys painted brick. Parapet and coping. Tiled roof. 1 triple sash with glazing bars intact, curved on 1st floor. Modern shop front.
Nos 37 to 46 (consec), Nos 48 & 49 form a group.
