[TQ 74 67 Sited to locality only] In the summer of 1900 excavations were made for the purpose of building a strong room beneath the offices of Messrs Arnold, Baker and Day, which stand upon the College Green at Rochester. The road was discovered which led from the north gate to the south gate of the city, settling the course of that way beyond dispute. Two Roman coins were brought to light during the excavations and a human skeleton indicating interment prior to the Roman occupation. (1)
