During aprogramme of excavation in 1999-2003, a 19th century well was discovered east of the Gatehouse at Ingress Abbey, Dartford. The well was brick-lined and 1.2 m in diameter and void to a depth of at least 26 m. The well was capped with a 1.4 m square slab of concrete and is believed to be of mid-19th century date on the basis fo the brickwork. (1)
