If you do not understand anything on this page please contact us.

During the 1960s a ditch (feature F28 in the source) was discovered beneath the A2 at Springhead, Southfleet. Formerly believed to be military in nature this now seems unlikely. It appears to run parrallel c.12 to the south east of another more substantial ditch which has been observed at several locations at Springhead and which appears to be associated with the Roman road which runs through the site. It is possible that this ditch is associated with the other example or may have replaced it. No further informaiton is available regarding its date or function. (1)
