Summary

A Bronze Age Palstave axe was found in January 1962 during work to level a lawn at Court Green, (formerly Old Culverden Castle). The Palstave was identified as of Curwen's type B but without loop or decoration. It had a heavy patination and the ends of the cutting edge are damaged; otherwise it was in fair condition. Thought to now be held in Tunbridge Wells Museum.

TQ 57684063. In January 1962, whilst levelling for a lawn at Court Green, formerly Old Culverden Castle, a palstave was found (in apparently undisturbed ground) at a depth of 3 ft, by Mr. J. Freeman, who pointed out the findspot. The Palstave isof Curwen's type B but without loop or decoration (a). It has a heavy patination and the ends of the cutting edge are damaged; otherwise it is in fair condition. Unpublished: In Tunbridge Wells Museum (No. Acc. No.) (1)
