Summary

A Belgic cremation burial group was discovered in May 1963 at Haynes Garage, Ashford Road, Maidstone, during the excavation of a trench at the rear of the showroom. The group comprises a pedestal urn, about one third of which was left in the side of the trench, a fragment of a globular jar with cordon and chevron containing a cremation, and the spring of a fibula, all 1st century AD.

On display in Maidstone Museum is a Belgic cremation burial group discovered in May 1963 at Haynes Garage, Ashford Road, Maidstone, during the excavation of a trench at the rear of the showroom. The exact find-spot at TQ 76685578 was indicated by Mr. R. Haynes. The group comprises a pedestal urn, about one third of which was left in the side of the trench, a fragment of a globular jar with cordon and chevron containing a cremation, and the spring of a fibula, all 1st c AD (Accession numbers 32/1963 a-c).
