[TQ 7935 5822]. Urns and Bronze Brooches found AD 1831 [NAT] (1) Several brown and black urns were found a quarter of a mile from the foot of the hill in the parish of Detling in 1830-31 apparently in excavations for a new parsonage. Maidstone Museum has some Belgic ware and two brooches also found in 1831 which perhaps are part of the same find. (2) In store in Maidstone Museum are two fibulae, La Tene.III type, from the Charles Collection, and some fragments of Belgic pottery, found while digging the foundations for Detling Vicarage, in August, 1831. No further finds have been reported. (No accession numbers). (3) Additional bibliography. (4)
