[TQ 7969 5608]. Scandinavian type flint axe, found January 1934. (1) On display in Maidstone Museum is a Ne. thick-butted polished flint axe (or gouge) with expanded and curved cutting edge of Danish type. (Accession number 6/1934). It was found by Mr. A. H. Holtom in January, 1934, at a depth of 4 feet in pure sand, whilst he was levelling ground prior to the construction of a cowshed in Roseacre Lane, Bearsted. Mr. Holtom indicated the exact findspot at TQ 79705605. (2)
